Windows Live Family Safety keeps kids away from questionable websites and inappropriate web content. It does this in three ways: The Family Safety Filter (used for enabling safety settings selected by parents), The Family Safety website (used for settings management and for viewing the activity reports of each child), Windows Parental Controls (used for additional safety settings). Furthermore, the program has SafeSearch for the three major search engines, contact management for Windows Live Messenger and Hotmail- so that parents can decide with whom their children are communicating online, and also Image Filtering - to prevent children from accessing adult content images. This piece of software covers all the possible ways a child can access inappropriate content, by blocking InPrivate browsing in Internet Explorer also.
Pros & Cons
- It is free and developed by Microsoft and blends perfectly with Windows, Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger.
- It offers comprehensive and complete online monitoring possibilities.
- It blocks inappropriate content for children from multiple points of view including safe search and image filtering.
- Taking into consideration that this software comes from Microsoft and if your child is a born hacker... Well, that is another story... I shall stop here.
