The workflow becomes literally a child's play due to the way in which the interface is organized; you can access fast all tools and features by switching between the 5 modes. The program opens in the Manage mode, from where you can find, move, preview, sort, organize and share files. It integrates 12 panes that make it easier for you when searching or performing filtering operations, namely file list, folders, calendar, favorites, search, thumbnail preview, task, properties and map pane. The next mode is the View one. It displays pictures and also media files and allows you to add captions to your images and to organize them by tags, categories, flags, keywords and EXIF or IPTC metadata.
The Edit mode and the Develop one goes hand in hand, even though are separated. To enhance a picture you need to start with some basic adjustments, for example fixing geometry, exposure, modify white balance and color profile and sharpen or reduce noise. These adjustments are non-destructive and can be applied from the Develop mode. You can batch process and convert all file types, including RAW and JPEG. When all necessary corrections are done, you can switch to the Edit mode, which is a bit more complex. This mode allows you to select and modify specific regions on your photo and to apply fine-tune adjustments using pixel based editing tools, such as a flaws and red eye removing tool and a lens distortion correction tool. You can also remove or add noise, sharpen or blur your image, adjust lighting and color, add text, borders, watermark and a good deal of special effects.
The last mode is the Online one and you can use it to upload your improved images to ACDSee Online.com. There's no need to open an internet browser in order to see and share pictures.
